In order to offer a fully integrated timber harvesting and marketing service to forest owners and forest and harvesting managers, Jim Wilmer & Sons Timber Harvesting Ltd added by acquisition, a fleet of timber lorries to the Company in 2019.
Since then, we have developed an effective and efficient service to customers to ensure that harvested timber can be safely and sustainably transported to timber markets throughout Scotland and North England.
Our modern fleet of timber wagons contains all the necessary equipment to move timber in any conditions:
8 Volvo tractor units and skeletal timber trailers which are loaded by our specialist Volvo 8x6 with long reach Epsilon S260L crane unit – this set up is perfect to move large quantities of timber over long distances or to satisfy just in time processor requirements.
We also have 5 self-loading timber lorries which all have an onboard weighing unit fitted to get the maximum payload weight from each load without exceeding legal gross vehicle weight.
All our crane lorries have CTI (Central Tyre Inflation) system installed to minimize the damage done to the forest and fragile public roads.
Our 24/7 modern, well equipped workshop and team of skilled HGV mechanics and fitters ensure that we can undertake planned routine maintenance and breakdown repairs to keep the fleet moving.
Timber haulage operators are managed by our Transport Manager, Grant Rennie, who has over 18 years of Logistics Industry experience and holds an International CPC licence. Haulage operations are effectively supported by our team of office administrators who ensure that drivers carry the necessary documentation and that weight tickets are processed and submitted in a timely manner to customers.
We work in a close partnership with our customers, delivering timber from forests throughout Central and South Scotland.
